CNC Shank and Collet Sizes: Why the Match Must Be Exact
Match nominal shank and collet dimensions, inspect mating surfaces and avoid treating close metric and inch sizes as interchangeable.

The collet is a precision retention component, not a universal clamp. The router-bit shank must match the collet size and system specified by the spindle manufacturer. Near metric and inch dimensions are not automatically compatible.
